On June 8th, President of Kyrgyzstan Sooronbay Jeenbekov visited the BAIC Group during his state visit to China to attend the 18th Meeting of the Council of Heads of Member States of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization.

Accompanied by BAIC Group Party Committee Secretary & Chairman Xu Heyi and Deputy Party Committee Secretary & Vice-President Zhang Xiyong, President Jeenbekov visited the sand table area and showroom of the BAIC Group. He inquired about BAIC's off-road vehicles, BAIC BJEV's passenger vehicles and Foton's new energy commercial vehicles, and attended a meeting in which he listened to an introduction to the development and globalization of the BAIC Group, and its new energy business.

As Xu Heyi pointed out, the BAIC Group is a key Chinese automotive group ranked 14th in the global automobile industry and 137th among the Fortune Global 500. Under the ‘Belt and Road’ initiative, it has vigorously developed international markets, accelerated globalization, achieved preliminary upgrading from ‘going out’ to ‘going in’ and established seven R&D centers across the world and over 200 sales service outlets in over 80 countries. In 2017, the exports of the BAIC Group were up 27.5% year on year.

"This is my third day in China. My previous meetings with President Xi Jinping and Premier Li Keqiang were fruitful, and new energy vehicle cooperation was mentioned in all of them. We will establish a joint venture with China and hope for support from China," said Jeenbekov, adding, "As the Chinese saying goes, 'a good neighbor is better than a brother far away,' and China is a good neighbor of Kyrgyzstan. During my visit, we have agreed on forging a comprehensive strategic partnership between China and Kyrgyzstan, opening a new chapter of friendly cooperation between the two countries."

"Kyrgyzstan supports China's 'Belt and Road' initiative. As an open country, Kyrgyzstan treats investors and local enterprises equally. Establishing a joint venture with the BAIC Group is an important measure for implementing this initiative. As 'seeing is believing', we sincerely invite the BAIC Group to visit Kyrgyzstan and see for yourselves," said Jeenbekov.

"We will arrange a special team to study the market and policies, formulate product and service solutions, and advance project implementation, thus ensuring that the project yields fruitful results as early as possible," said Xu Heyi.
